Judas Priest Hell Bent for First Top 10 Album

Veteran rock band is aiming for its first top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart with new release "Redeemer of Souls."

Rockers Judas Priest could nab its first top 10 album ever on the Billboard 200 chart next week. Industry sources forecast the group's new set, "Redeemer of Souls" to sell upwards of 30,000 copies in the week ending July 13. "Redeemer of Souls," which was released on July 8, is the band's 17th studio effort, and first since 2008's "Nostradamus."

Believe it or not, despite having charted 17 albums on the Billboard 200 since 1978, the group has yet to tally a top 10. They topped out at No. 11 with "Nostradamus."

The Billboard 200's new top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, July 16.

Next week's likely new No. 1 will be Sia's "1000 Forms of Fear," which might sell around 50,000 copies. Sam Smith's "In the Lonely Hour" is probably looking at the runner-up slot with maybe 45,000 or so.

Also heading for the top 10: Dirty Heads' "Sound of Change" with around 20,000 to 25,000.

On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Sia leads, with Smith at No. 2. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants.

As for the rest of the top 10 on the Building Chart: Ed Sheeran's "x" is No. 3, Trey Songz's current Billboard 200 champ, "Trigga," is No. 4, the "Frozen" soundtrack is No. 5 and Judas Priest is No. 6. Dirty Heads ranks at No. 7, Mike Stud's "Closer" is No. 8 and Miranda Lambert's "Platinum" is No. 9. 16-year old YouTuber Jacob Whitesides is No. 10 with his five-song "3 AM" EP. Both Stud and Whitesides might miss the final top 10, but could respectively sell about 15,000 each.
